From Burnout to Breakthrough: How Wobo Helped Tony Take Back His Time

15 Mar 2025
Meet Tony: a 35-year-old Product Manager and dad of a lively 5-year-old. From the outside, things seemed okay. Tony had a stable job at a corporate company, but behind the scenes, he felt exhausted, unhappy, and undervalued. He knew he deserved better pay, more flexibility, and especially more quality time with his family.
Every day after work, Tony started a second shift at home, searching and applying for new jobs online. Each night, he spent around two hours browsing LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and whatever other job sites he could find. "It felt like it never ended," Tony says. "I was just applying everywhere, hoping something would finally work out. My energy and motivation kept dropping, and worst of all, I was losing time I could’ve spent with my son."
Tony kept applying like this, non-stop and without direction, for nearly two months. The result? Only one interview, and even that company eventually ghosted him. Tony felt stuck and hopeless.
One day, while chatting with a friend, Tony heard about Wobo. He wasn’t sure at first but decided to try it because he was ready for a change. He signed up, created a detailed profile, and chose the Premium package to benefit from custom cover letters and a higher number of job applications.
The first week wasn’t perfect, though. Tony noticed he wasn’t getting many matches, so he reached out to Wobo’s support team. "Martha at Wobo quickly noticed my issue. Some of the job titles I chose weren’t standard, so Wobo had trouble matching me. She patiently helped me fix my preferences, and after that, things started moving fast," Tony explains.
Soon, Tony was matched with around 5 to 8 jobs per day, jobs that actually fit his skills and what he was looking for. At first, he didn’t think that number was huge, but he quickly realized something important:
Every job Wobo applied to for me actually made sense. Before Wobo, I was just clicking apply on everything. Now each application felt like it had a purpose.
Just two-and-a-half weeks in, Tony had his first interview through Wobo, already more than he’d gotten on his own in months. By the third week, Tony was consistently getting two to three interviews each week. Feeling relieved and less stressed, he stopped applying on his own. "For the first time in a long while, I actually relaxed after work," he says. "Instead of mindlessly scrolling LinkedIn, I was finally spending real time with my wife and son."
Wobo didn’t just help Tony get interviews; it helped him breathe again. "Every interview felt professional and respectful. No more ghosting, no more wasted effort," Tony adds. After nearly landing a job in week six, he finally found the right one in week eight: a fully remote startup role that paid more than his old job. "I finally felt like I was getting what I deserved," Tony shares.
In just eight weeks, Wobo applied to 275 jobs for Tony, got him 14 interviews, and ended with a job offer he was excited about. But even more than the job, he got something else back: his time.
In Tony’s words, “The best thing Wobo gave me was time. Time to breathe. Time to be with my family. And time to stop stressing about what’s next.”
If you’re feeling burnt out from job hunting, Tony has a simple message:
Your time matters. Your family matters. Job searching shouldn't take over everything. Wobo helped me get my time and focus back. Maybe it can help you, too.
